Yay!
So as of October 3, I will officially be an employee of the Federal government, working at the USPTO (US Patent and Trademark Office). I'm very excited, and also glad that this interminable job search is over. I'll probably be moving to Alexandria, VA, since that's where the job is, but that's not definite yet. While being a patent examiner isn't research, those jobs are hard to come by for someone in my position (i.e. no advanced degree). But I'll be examining physics patents, and specifically ones dealing with semiconductors and optical/electrical systems - since those are my main areas of interest, being exposed to the latest research being done in them can only help.
I haven't forgotten about China, though, and so I don't forget, I'm making a list here of the things I still have to write about:
- Wuyuan County
- Penglai
- Qufu
- Beijing (second time)
- Yantai
- overall thoughts about the trip
I'll start making a dent in them soon, because I would like to wrap everything up, though I'm sure more random thoughts will come back to me as the months go by. I also have lots more pictures that need to be uploaded and labeled. Ugh...
